A Running Starts

Dear friends,

I am very excited to announce myself as the Democratic-Farmer Labor endorsed candidate for Minnesota House in District 18A, which encompasses Meeker County, with portions of Wright and McLeod Counties.

In recent years, our representation in the state legislature has fallen out of step with
the priorities of everyday Minnesotans, as fringe issues and partisan politics have been
put ahead of what really matters to the hard working people in our area—job creation,
sustainable property taxes, and maintaining a high quality education system for our kids. Though we’ve seen an improvement in the atmosphere and priorities of the legislature in the past two years more action is necessary. To ensure further progress our community requires a strong voice that puts constituents first, and that’s why I’m running for state house.

Having spent nearly all my working life in factory jobs, including three years at HTI, I have come to know all too well the anxiety of the modern work force caused by downsizing. Creating and maintaining good paying jobs in Minnesota is my number one priority. As a homeowner in Cokato, I experienced skyrocketing property taxes due to the decision of the state legislature to cut the Market Value Homestead Credit in 2010. Though now corrected, continued over reliance on local funds would be damaging to our communities.

If elected, I will seek pragmatic solutions and work toward consensus to fund our
schools, roads, and public safety while keeping taxes low for middle class families in our
district and across Minnesota.

With your help, the Minnesota House will gain a strong rural voice to allow these goals to become a reality. A donation of $100, $50, or any amount you can afford will be used to get the word out to our neighbors about our campaign. I appreciate any help you can give and look forward to representing District 18A in the Minnesota House.
